FAQs
What do all of the EV acronyms stand for?
An electric vehicle that runs only on battery power can be called an EV, BEV, or ZEV. An EV is an electric vehicle. A BEV is a battery-electric vehicle. A ZEV is a zero-emission vehicle.
Hybrid vehicles use a gas engine and an electric component that does not need to be plugged in; these are referred to as HEVs. If the battery must be recharged by plugging the vehicle into an outlet or charging station, it is called a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, or PHEV. You may also hear the term ICE, which means internal combustion engine.
Are electric vehicles more expensive to drive than gas-powered vehicles?
EVs typically cost more upfront but are the more affordable option overall. This is because the operational costs of maintenance are more affordable, and no fill-ups at the gas station are needed.
How do you charge an EV?
You can use both public charging stations and at-home charging methods. Most frequently EV owners recharge their vehicle's battery overnight at home. Public charging stations are growing and provide an easy way to charge the battery away from home.
Can you recycle EV batteries?
When your EV battery is approaching the end of its life, it can conveniently be replaced in our service center. Typically, a replacement is needed roughly every ten years. Up to 90% of an EV battery can be recycled.
What are EV financial incentives?
Incentives may be available to help you save money on your EV purchase. However, these incentives vary, and our Toyota team is your best source for current information.
