What's New for the 2026 Toyota Tacoma?
The 2026 Toyota Tacoma is part of the modelās fourth generation, which debuted in 2024. This mid-size truck, available in both two-door and four-door body styles, is a smart choice for drivers who need utility and demand style from their next vehicle. Due to the Tacomaās next-generation overhaul only a few years ago, this model remains unchanged for the 2026 model year.
With its muscularly sculpted sides and rigid, squared-off fenders, the Tacoma makes a strong statement on the road. Its sporty yet powerful look is enhanced by a strongly angled front windshield and a tall, muscular hood. At the front, the 2026 Tacoma sports a wide grille that tapers to points at the sides. The slightly flared headlights feature upper and lower LED bars, mounted over unique accents. Exterior features include a 5-foot or 6-foot bed, up to 33-inch tires, a power tailgate, power running boards, a bed storage box, and others.
The Tacomaās entry-level trim, the SR, is equipped with a 2.4-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine producing 228 horsepower. This system features rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. However, four-wheel drive with low-range gearing is offered as an upgrade. The mid-level engine is an upgraded version of the SRās engine, producing 278 horsepower and featuring an eight-speed automatic transmission. With a six-speed manual transmission, the output is 270 horsepower. The TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, and Limited versions of the 2026 Tacoma have a plug-in hybrid system. This is the i-Force Max powertrain, and it produces 326 horsepower.
Entry-level features for the Tacoma include lane departure mitigation, forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-inch touchscreen display, a push-button ignition, and more. As you step up the trim level lineup, you will also find features like a digital instrument panel, a leather-trimmed and heated steering wheel, auto climate control, a wireless trailer camera, a household power outlet, a sunroof, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, a JBL premium sound system, and more.

1. Payload includes the weight of occupants, cargo and options and is limited by weight distribution.
2. Never tow beyond a vehicle's published towing capacities. Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. Follow all instructions in your Owner's Manual.
