What's New for the 2025 Toyota Tacoma?

For truck shoppers in the market for a mid-size model, the Toyota Tacoma is a strong contender. The 2025 Tundra is available with both hybrid and non-hybrid powertrains and eight trim levels. In addition, shoppers can choose between a two-seat extended cab layout or a five-seat crew cab option. Three-bed sizes are also available. The 2025 Toyota Tacoma introduces only a few minor updates for drivers to benefit from.

On the exterior, all trim levels now come with front tow hooks. The option of auxiliary switches is also available for all trim levels. In 2024, these switches managed 30 amps and can now handle up to 95 amps. In addition to these changes, all Tacoma TRD models are now available with Terra blue paint.

Otherwise, the 2025 Tacoma is comparable to its 2024 counterpart. This truck expresses its confidence visually through its rugged, modern design. The style is established by a tall cabin and nose as well as a solidly defined hood. The sides are expressive, with well-defined, squared-off fenders and bold accents running over the door panels. At the front, the wide, hexagon-like grille sits above a large bumper and skid plate. The pointed headlights show off an LED bar and are mounted above a stack of thinner LED bars. Available or included exterior features are an ARB modular bed utility bar, up to 33-inch tires, power running boards, a power tailgate, a bed storage box, and others.

The three powertrains offered in the 2024 Tacoma are also offered in 2025. The standard engine is a turbo 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine. It produces 228 horsepower and pairs with an eight-speed auto transmission. Rear-wheel drive or optional four-wheel drive are available. Another powertrain available is an upgraded version of this four-cylinder engine, and it generates 278 horsepower with an eight-speed auto transmission. You can also choose a six-speed manual transmission, which brings the output down to 270 horsepower. A 326-horsepower hybrid powertrain is also offered.

1. Payload includes the weight of occupants, cargo and options and is limited by weight distribution.
2. Never tow beyond a vehicle's published towing capacities. Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. Follow all instructions in your Owner's Manual.
